| The Greek Tsolias...

Taverna Pireus
Ταβέρνα "Pireus"

[ENG] One can find the Greek Tsolia (guy dressed with the traditional costume that the Greek National Guard wears) almost in every part of the planet... After the center of Wroclaw, I found one also in Budapest, Hungary. In both cases, though, he was advertising a Greek taverna, proving that, what Greece exports abroad, is greek salad, tzatziki, souvlaki, greek mouzaka and tsoliadakia (many small tsolias)...

Well, unfortunately none of them is authentic, apart from a single small one near to the Conservatory which however has closed…

Recently a chain of real Greek groceries has opened, but still with very limited offer, and it is not clear whether it will be succesful in conquering the rather conservative Magyar stomach.

I liked the term γκρικ, never encountered before!

(sorry for replying in English; although I do read and do love Greek, both Ancient and Modern, nevertheless I have no practice in actively using it in writing)

vegetables: yes, especially for one who has lived in Bulgaria, the Great Mother of all vegetables on earth! but as to olive and cheese (and also Greek wine, both from proper Greece and from the Ionian shores), have you ever tried the Naschmarkt in Vienna? the several dozens of Greek shopkeepers provide you with the finest choice outside Hellas (true, for a price not to be compared with the Greek ones).

Hahahaha, no I have never been in Naschmarkt in Vienna or, at least, I do not know if I have been there, when I was in the city, but I really do not think so...

Of course, if it is Greek olives or cheese, they have the same good taste outside Greece ;)
